About Process West

Since 2003, Process West has set the standard for turbocharged performance, engineering world-class intercoolers, air intakes, and oil cooling systems. From premium intake manifolds to anti-surge fuel systems, every component is built to endure the highest limits of the track and the street. Designed and built in Australia, the Process West line-up specialises in iconic platforms, including the Ford Falcon, Ranger Raptor, Subaru WRX, and STI.

The Origin of Process West

This is Kevin Westblade, the founder and director of Process West.

Around the mid 90's you'd find him either in a car, or pulling one apart.

In 1995, after owning about 20 or so cars, he purchased a 1987 VL Commodore with the 304ci V8.

All his mates had the same car but with the 3.0L Nissan Turbo Charged 6 (RB30). The iconic VL Turbo.

It didn’t take him long to realise how slow the V8 was compared to the RB30 6 Cyl.

Eventually, Kevin sold the V8 and purchased VL Turbo.

Mod Testing

Kev’s Commodore quickly became a platform for all kinds of mod testing. Installing new parts, building them himself, finding out what worked… or didn’t.

One mod in particular was the intercooler. The VL didn't come with one from the factory.

The First Process West Intercooler

At the time the only intercooler available for the VL was an AVO kit. Too expensive for Kev at the time, so he decided to make his own.

After purchasing a Valeo intercooler core from Spearco in the USA, he hand fabricated the aluminium tanks and had them welded to the core. He sourced the piping from a steel exhaust tube.

This intercooler, which might technically be the first from Process West, completely transformed the VL.

Word of Mouth

It didn't take long for people to hear about how good Kev's intercoolers were, and pretty soon people were lining up to place their orders.

Every weekend for months on end Kev would build and install intercooler kits in his parents driveway.

The Rise & Fall

Eventually he had a small workshop not far from home and kept growing the business. Back then he called his little shop Hyperflow. He even had a small business partnership. But after a couple years with a (very) incompatible business partner, Kev walked away from the business with nothing.

He had to start all over again. So he did.

The Launch of Process West

In 2002, Kevin launched Process West.

This time, he wanted to do it properly. Every part he would design and build must strive to be the best in the market.

“Perfection without compromise”.

Now, more than 20 years after building intercoolers in his parents driveway, Kevin has grown Process West into an internationally recognised pioneer of automotive performance.

There’s little telling what the next 20 years hold for us. But there’s one thing for certain: Process West will always push the limits of automotive performance, so you can pursue the absolute most from your platform. In Pursuit of Something More.
